Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Authorities in Yahukimo, Papua Mountains, have evacuated teachers and medical personnel from Anggruk due to security threats from the armed criminal group (KKB).
Yahukimo Regent Didimus Yahuli confirmed on Saturday (22/3/2025) that the personnel were transported to Wamena as a precautionary measure.
The teachers, part of the “Yahukimo Pintar” program, were stationed in Prongkoli, Helirik Walma, Panggema, and Kosarek. The evacuation was conducted using two aircraft, but operations remain limited due to bad weather and the reluctance of civilian airlines to enter the area.
Officials have yet to confirm reports of contract teachers being killed and their homes burned in Anggruk, according to antaranews.com.
“We have made every effort, but no civilian airline is willing to fly there,” Didimus said, expressing regret over the violence. He emphasized that the teachers were there to educate children and urged an end to the attacks.
