inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Mardani Ali Sera, assessed that BRICS has the potential to be a driver of reinforcing multilateralism amidst the current global uncertainty.

"As an alternative forum for developing countries, BRICS has the potential to be a driver of reinforcing multilateralism amidst the global uncertainty caused by the rampant unilateral economic policies," said Mardani in a statement quoted from Antaranews, Jakarta, Thursday (6/4/2025).

He conveyed this when he was representing Indonesia in the BRICS Parliamentary Forum which was being chaired by the Brazilian parliament in Brasilia, Brazil, on June 3-5, 2025.

Mardani Ali Sera then conveyed how BRICS strengthens its role in international trade amidst the current global conditions, especially through support for the issue of the World Trade Organization (WTO) reform agenda.

"In addition, the use of national currencies in trade between BRICS members is a strategy to build economic resilience," he said.

Mardani hopes that the increasing trade and investment, as well as technology transfer and cooperation in the financial sector between fellow BRICS member countries will not only help increase economic growth, but can also build collective resilience against increasingly complex global challenges.
