Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Indonesian National Police (INP) headquarters has dispatched 300 Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel to support security for regional elections in Papua.
Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Patrige Renwarin said on Wednesday (13/11/2024) that the officers, scheduled to arrive on23 November 2024, will operate under the Papua Police and receive training to understand local conditions better.
These reinforcements will join the 10,471 personnel already deployed by Papua Police to safeguard the delivery of election materials and polling stations.
The police have identified Papua Mountains and Central Papua provinces as high-risk areas due to challenging terrain and potential threats from armed criminal groups.
"Sixteen districts in these two provinces are classified as vulnerable," Chief Renwarin said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
