Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Commission of Human Rights (Komnas HAM) condemned on Monday (24/3/2025) the armed criminal group (KKB) attack on civilians in Anggruk, Yahukimo, Papua Mountains, on 21 March 2025, calling it a violation of human rights and international humanitarian law.

"Any attack on civilians, whether in war or peacetime, by state or non-state actors, constitutes a grave violation," said Komnas HAM Chair Atnike Nova Sigiro, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The recent attack left one teacher dead, six others injured, and a school burned.

Komnas HAM urged authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation to hold perpetrators accountable. The government must ensure protection and recovery for victims, including medical and psychological support. Civilian security must be guaranteed, particularly for teachers and healthcare workers in conflict-prone areas.

Komnas HAM also praised local authorities, the Indonesian Military (TNI), and the Indonesian National Police (INP) for the evacuation efforts.

"We extend our condolences to the victims, especially Rosalina Rerek Sogen, the slain teacher," Atnike said.
