inp.polri.go.id - Ngada. Ngada Sub-regional Police team, led by Second Police Assistant Inspector Yohanes Noka successfully arrested a rapist with the initials of AW in Ngadha Mana Village, Bajawa District, Ngada Regency, on last Saturday.
Head of Public Relations of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Henry Novika Chandra, appreciated the speed of the police team in uncovering the case.
"The speed in uncovering this case is proof of the Ngada Sub-regional Police's commitment to eradicating crime and providing a sense of security for the community. In less than 24 hours, our team managed to secure the alleged perpetrator along with sufficient evidence for further processing," said Senior Superintendent Henry Novika Chandra on Sunday, (2/16/2025).
Henry reveals that chronology of this case began on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 19.30 am, when the victim with the initials MQBNK was hanging out with her friends at Taman Kartini Bajawa. AW approached the victim and forcibly pulled her hand, then took her on a green motorbike to an empty house in Bajawa City. At that place, AW allegedly raped the victim.
After the incident, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 01.20 am, the victim came to the Ngada Sub-regional Police Integrated Police Service Center (SPKT) to report the incident. The victim's report was recorded in police report number: LP/B/36/II/2025/SPKT/POLRES NGADA.
After receiving the report, the Ngada Sub-regional Police team immediately moved quickly to seek information, collect evidence, including CCTV footage showing the alleged perpetrator taking the victim for a ride to a resident's house.
Based on the evidence obtained, police then pursued AW. At 09.30 am, the team managed to secure AW at EW's house in Ngadha Mana Village, Bajawa District. In addition to arresting the perpetrator, the police also confiscated evidence in the form of a cell phone and CCTV footage as evidence for further legal proceedings.
The Head of Public Relations of the NTT Regional Police also said that both the victim and the rapist are still being handled by the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Ngada Sub-regional Police for further investigation and emphasized that the police will take firm action against any perpetrators of sexual crimes and provide justice for the victims.
