Inp.polri.go.id - East Flores. Thousands of survivors from the Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki eruption in East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), casted their ballots in the regional elections on Wednesday (27/11/2024) at relocation polling stations set up in several refugee shelters.
"We’ve been ready since the morning to exercise our political rights," Vicky Irak, 31, a survivor from Boru Village, said at TPS 002 Boru polling station.
Vicky praised the election organizers for accommodating survivors during the emergency situation and hoped the new leaders will address their needs.
"We hope the new leaders will pay more attention to us. While some have received houses, we need to rebuild our homes damaged by volcanic ash," Vicky added, as quoted by antaranews.com.
East Flores Regional Secretary Petrus Pedo Maran confirmed the election ran smoothly despite the challenges.
A total of 4,145 voters from two sub-districts were registered at 22 relocation polling stations across the region.
