Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has documented a total of 1,036,037 foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia during February 2024.
Acting Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, revealed that this figure represents an 11.67 percent increase compared to January 2024 and a substantial 38.24 percent surge from the corresponding period the previous year.
"However, despite this growth, the current number of foreign tourist visits remains below the pre-COVID-19 level observed in February 2019, which reached 1.24 million," she saidon Monday (1/4/2024).
Amalia explained that the rebound in Indonesia's tourism sector was evidenced by the cumulative rise in foreign tourist visits from January to February 2024, totaling 1.96 million visits. It marked a significant 26.87 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Nevertheless, these figures still fell short of the visitor numbers recorded in January-February 2019, which stood at 2.44 million visits, as reported by antaranews.com.
Analyzing the entry points, BPS noted that in February 2024, 890,860 foreign tourists arrived through the main entry points, while 145,170 entered via border checkpoints.
The composition of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in February 2024 was led by visitors from Malaysia (20.66 percent), Singapore (10.89 percent), and China (10.16 percent).
