Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Directorate General of Corrections transferred 100 high-risk inmates from North Sumatra to Nusakambangan’ islands super-maximum security prison on Saturday, as part of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections’ campaign to eliminate drugs and illicit phone use in prisons.

“This transfer is part of our acceleration program to clean up narcotics and illegal communication inside correctional facilities,” said Rika Aprianti, the Head of Corrections Cooperation, on Sunday (16/5/2025).

The transferred inmates had undergone investigation and assessment before being moved under tight security involving 200 officers and cooperation with North Sumatra’s Mobile Brigade unit.

Rika emphasized that the goal is to isolate disruptive inmates and enhance rehabilitation under strict monitoring.

Minister Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto's zero-tolerance policy on drugs and illicit mobile phone use in correctional facilities has led to the relocation of around 1,000 inmates to the prison island under this initiative.
