inp.polri.go.id - Empat Lawang. The Narcotics Criminal Investigation Directorate of the South Sumatra Regional Police, together with the Empat Lawang Sub-regional Police uncovered a large-scale marijuana trafficking case through a joint operation on Friday (4/24/2026).
This operation dismantled a 20-hectare marijuana field in Batu Jungul Village, Muara Pinang District, Empat Lawang Regency, while confiscating 220 kilograms of dried marijuana ready for distribution.
This disclosure is the result of the development of an intensive investigation since February 2026 which succeeded in mapping a marijuana distribution network across regions to Java Island. The arrest of the main suspect with the initials PD alias Pinhar was carried out at the bus counter on Gubernur H. Bastari street, Palembang.
From the suspect, investigators found and seized the marijuana which then led the authorities to marijuana field in Batu Jungul Village. At that location, investigators found a large amount of dried marijuana.
"The evidence that was successfully secured included 220 kilograms of dried marijuana packed in 11 large sacks, four motorbikes for transporting the illicit goods, as well as land ownership documents and maps of marijuana fields," said the Director of Narcotics Criminal Investigation Directorate of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Yulian Perdana, Sunday (4/26/2026).
From the results of the investigation, the suspect PD was known to control a network that had been operating since 2024 with distribution covering the Empat Lawang, Palembang, and Java Island areas.
"Four other people involved in the network have currently been designated as wanted persons and are still being pursued," he explained.
For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 111 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics, with the possibility of developing the article according to the results of further investigations.
Yulian emphasized that this success was the result of strong collaboration between his ranks. He emphasized his commitment to continue developing the case until the entire network is uncovered, while also urging the public to play an active role in providing information to eradicate drug trafficking in South Sumatra.
