inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. The South Sumatra Regional Police completed Operation Ketupat Musi 2026, recording improvements in various security and service indicators compared to 2025. From March 13 to 25, 2026, the total number of preemptive and preventive activities reached 30,956, a 12.2 percent increase compared to the previous year.

South Sumatra Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, stated that a significant increase occurred in preventive activities, which rose 30.4 percent, demonstrating a stronger personnel presence in the field to prevent potential disturbances to public order and security and traffic accidents. In law enforcement, the South Sumatra Regional Police noted a technology-based transformation through the implementation of the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) system.

"Enforcements through mobile ETLE increased by 658 percent, while manual ticketing dropped drastically by 98.9 percent, indicating a shift towards more modern, transparent, and accountable law enforcement," he explained on Thursday (3/26/2026).

In terms of transportation, Sandi stated that all modes of transportation experienced growth. Airport passengers increased 38 percent to 178,522, while bus terminal passengers grew 43 percent to 70,301.

He stated that train passengers also increased by 17.4 percent, indicating a positive trend in public trust in public transportation. Meanwhile, vehicle traffic on toll roads reached 459,476 vehicles, with growth on several strategic sections such as the Terpeka and Indralaya–Prabumulih Toll Roads.

"However, increased public mobility has also resulted in an increase in the number of traffic accidents," he said.

He added that the number of recorded accidents increased from 80 to 129 cases, which is a serious concern for future evaluation. Sandi emphasized that this achievement is the result of the hard work of all personnel during the operation.

"For 13 days, all personnel worked non-stop. This achievement is the result of collective dedication, but the increasing number of accidents is a concern that we must address with better steps going forward," he explained.
