inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The East Java Regional Police recorded that the number of vehicles traveling home and returning during Operation Ketupat Semeru 2026 reached 1,938,668 units between March 13–24, 2026, an increase of approximately 18 percent compared to the previous year.
"In general, there has been an increase in traffic flow on both arterial roads and toll roads. The total number of vehicles entering and leaving East Java increased by approximately 18 percent compared to last year," said the Head of Public Relations of the East Java Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Jules Abraham Abast, Wednesday (3/25/2026).
Based on this data, the number of vehicles increased by approximately 300,676 units compared to the same period in 2025, when 1,637,992 vehicles were recorded.
This increase demonstrates the high level of public mobility during this year's Eid homecoming period.
On toll roads, the total number of vehicles recorded reached 1,483,303 units, a 10 percent increase. Meanwhile, on arterial roads, significant increases occurred at several points, including the Magetan arterial route, which saw an increase of more than 400 percent.
Furthermore, the number of passengers on public transportation also increased. The total number of passengers was recorded at 2,544,309, a 22 percent increase compared to the previous year's 2,097,163.
"The surge in passengers was seen across various modes of transportation, including land, sea, and air. This indicates that this year's homecoming activity is very dynamic," said Jules.
He emphasized that overall, the homecoming and return traffic in East Java during Operation Ketupat Semeru 2026 was safe and smooth, despite the increase in vehicle and passenger volumes.
"Thank God, despite the significant increase, the public security and order and traffic security remain conducive. This is thanks to the synergy of all parties involved in securing Operation Ketupat Semeru 2026," he explained.
