Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Affairs has suspended 71 immigration officers at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport following a bribery case involving Chinese citizens.
“As of today, 71 immigration officers have been suspended in connection with this incident,” said Minister Agus Andrianto on Wednesday (19/2/2025)
The suspended staff includes a former head of the immigration office, a head of division, five inspection supervisors, 23 shift supervisors, and 40 counter officers. The suspensions follow a diplomatic note from the Chinese Embassy dated 21 January, 2025, revealing 44 bribery cases affecting 60 Chinese citizens between February 2024 and January 2025, with Rp 32.75 million already refunded.
An ongoing internal investigation is being conducted, and preventive measures, including the optimization of 98 auto gates and a reduction of manual counters, have been introduced to avoid future misconduct.
