inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Chief of Police Traffic Corps of Indonesian National Police, Police Inspector General Istiono, stated that 849 people entering Greater Jakarta were subjected to Covid-19 antigen test on several checkpoints after the 2021 Eid holiday. "One of them tested positive for Covid-19", he said in Jakarta, Saturday (15/5/21). Police Inspector-General Istiono issued that statement after he inspects personnel's readiness in checkpoints of Purbaleunyi Toll Road, West Java. Personnel conducted a random antigen test (random sampling) towards 849 people crossing 35 insulation checkpoints towards Greater Jakarta. The two-star general stated that the test was conducted as a requirement for the people to go back to Greater Jakarta and reduce Covid-19 transmission after the Eid al-Fitr holiday. "The test would also be conducted during the predicted peak of returning wave on Sunday", Chief of Police Traffic Corps said. Police Inspector-General Istiono predicts 1.5 million people from outside Greater Jakarta and Sumatra will enter Greater Jakarta after the 2021 Eid homecoming. "National Covid-19 Task Force, together with related institutions, (including) Indonesian National Police, are anticipating this. We agreed yesterday that 25 checkpoints must be established to conduct a random test and, for the returning flow from Sumatra, the random test is required. Chief of Police Traffic Corps adds that his institution will also add more antigen test spots to increase random sampling checkpoint up to 109 locations spread across toll roads and arterial roads bound for Greater Jakarta.
