Agriculture Ministry Says Shallots Production Decreased for October in December

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Agriculture reported a decline in shallot production in October and December.

Director of Vegetables and Medicinal Plants, Andi Muhammad Idil Fitri, explained that the cumulative balance still showed a positive figure.

"From the production side based on the early warning system in October, we did have a fairly large minus for shallot production, likewise in December. but of course it was covered by the cumulative balance," he said on Thursday (10/24/2024).

Andi detailed that shallot production in October was projected to reach 116,925 tons. On the flip side, household, industries, and exports needs reached 100,933 tons.

The monthly balance showed a minus of 23,950 tons. However, the cumulative balance remained stable at 53,181 tons.

Meanwhile, November production is projected at 147,334 tons. The need for this month is estimated to reach 95,845 tons.

In October, the monthly balance recorded a surplus of 1,160 tons. However, the cumulative balance decreased to 45,300 tons.

Then for December, production is estimated to reach 154,202 tons. The need for that month reached 103,013 tons.

He said the monthly balance showed a minus of 1,487 tons. Meanwhile, the cumulative balance was at 36,112 tons.

At the end of the opportunity he added that the price of shallots had increased quite a bit, but was still below the reference. The Ministry of Agriculture hopes that the price of shallots can return to stability ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
