Inp.polri.go.id - IKN. Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said on Sunday (11/8/2024) that using artificial intelligence (AI) to regulate subsidized fuel could save the national budget up to Rp 50 trillion annually.
“We could save up to Rp 40 trillion or even Rp 50 trillion per year. These savings could be redirected elsewhere,” he said during a visit to the Coordinating Ministry Building 1 in the new capital, Ibu Kota Nusantara, in East Kalimantan.
Minister Luhut supports PT Pertamina’s use of AI to manage subsidized fuel distribution more accurately, ensuring only eligible recipients receive the subsidies.
He highlighted the success of innovations like the e-Catalog, which has streamlined government spending by up to Rp 3 trillion, and praised the Simbara system for enhancing coal sector revenues. An automatic blocking system has also improved compliance, generating Rp 1.1 trillion in state revenue.
PT Pertamina's President Director, Nicke Widyawati, confirmed the company’s use of AI for faster and more accurate data analysis in managing its operations. PT Pertamina processes around 15 million subsidized fuel transactions daily with improved efficiency due to AI.
