inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo welcomes the visit of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday during Albanese’s three day trip to Indonesia.
The visit of PM Albanese and his delegation to Jakarta was also within the framework of the Annual Leaders Meeting of Indonesia and Australia.
The motorcade of PM Albanese and his delegation was greeted by the honor guard, the Paspampres cavalry and hundreds of elementary school students from the Monas area to the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.
In a bilateral meeting with Indonesian and Australian delegations, President Prabowo welcomed his reunion with PM Albanese, since the last meeting in Lima, Peru.
"The relationship between our two countries has been close and good, and your visit here once again confirms this friendship and we greatly appreciate it," said President Prabowo in a bilateral meeting at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday.
In his remarks, the President said it was an honor for him to welcome PM Albanese's visit, making Indonesia the first country after being elected as prime minister.
Prabowo assessed that PM Albanese's visit was expected to boost the two-state cooperation in various fields, both bilaterally, regionally, and even globally.
Meanwhile, PM Albanese assessed that his meeting with President Prabowo was very productive.
Albanese, who has visited Indonesia four times, also admitted that the relationship between Indonesia and Australia is very special.
"The day before we start this trip to our neighboring country, our important friends in Indonesia, I want to show, both symbolically and in practice, how much we value friendship in Indonesia by holding my first bilateral meeting, again, like in 2022," said Albanese.
