Inp.polri.go.id - Trenggalek. All six victims of the landslide in Kebonagung hamlet, Depok village, Trenggalek regency, have been found dead, prompting authorities to officially end the search and rescue (SAR) operation on Saturday (24/5/2025).
“With the discovery of the last four bodies on day six, the SAR operation is now concluded. We will shift our focus to clearing landslide debris,” said Nanang Sigit, Head of SAR Office in Surabaya, East Java, as reported by antaranews.com.
The victims, buried under three meters of soil, were found gradually between 1.10 pm and 2.40 pm local time. The deceased include a toddler, two women, and an elderly man. Two earlier victims were found on 22 May 2025 and buried in the local cemetery.
All bodies were taken to Dr. Soedomo Regional Hospital for identification.
Trenggalek Sub-regional Police Chief Superintendent Ridwan Maliki said, “We’re awaiting official confirmation from the identification team.”
The landslide occurred after heavy rainfall on 19 May 2025. Cleanup will now be handled by the Trenggalek administration.
