In yet another act of violence, the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Apen Kobogau, ambushed security forces in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua, resulting in the death of an on-duty police officer. The victim, Second Brigadier Alfandi Steve Karamoy, fell victim to the KKB ambush near the Telkomsel BTS Tower in Bilogai Village, Sugapa District. Sustaining gunshot wounds to the left jaw that penetrated through the right jaw, he was pronounced deceased following evacuation and initial medical assistance at Sugapa Community Health Center. "The incident unfolded as the KKB launched an assault on our personnel in the area for approximately 30 minutes from the rear position," Superintendent Dr. Bayu Suseno, the spokesperson for the Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force, said on Friday (19/1/2024). Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, the Chief of the Damai Cartenz Task Force, asserted that legal measures would be taken against the assailants.
