Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A ceasefire agreement between Thailand and Cambodia was secured following a regional peace summit led by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya on July 28, 2025.
The accord marked a major diplomatic milestone under ASEAN’s conflict mediation framework, as reported by antaranews.com.
“The presence and collaboration of all parties underscore our shared commitment to peace, dialogue, and regional stability,” according to a joint press release issued by Thailand, Cambodia, and Malaysia after the meeting on Monday (28/7/2025).
The U.S. and China actively participated, signaling global support for de-escalation.
Both Cambodian PM Hun Manet and Thailand’s Acting PM Phumtham Wechayachai agreed to an immediate and unconditional ceasefire starting at midnight Monday. Informal talks among regional military commanders are scheduled for Tuesday, followed by a General Border Committee meeting on 4 August 2025.
Malaysia, as ASEAN Chair, will coordinate observer teams to monitor the truce’s implementation.
