inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office in Badung Regency, Bali, deported an Indian citizen who held two identical passports with different identities.

"Our officers discovered irregularities in the passports used and then conducted a more in-depth inspection, revealing another passport with a different identity," said the Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Muhamad Novyandri, in Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday (10/31/2026).

The discovery came to light when the Indian citizen, identified as SP, was about to leave Bali for Manila, Philippines, on Wednesday (10/14/2026).

At the time, SP was undergoing immigration inspection and had used a different passport when entering Bali. Immigration officers then took SP into custody for questioning.

The results of the immigration forensic laboratory examination also indicated a suspected substitution of the biodata page on one of the passports used.

Following this discovery, the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office took decisive action by deporting SP on Tuesday (10/27/2026).

SP was repatriated via a flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and then continued on to Chennai, India.

Novyandri added that the findings demonstrate the importance of officers' thoroughness when checking every travel document, both upon arrival and departure of international passengers.

"This incident demonstrates that immigration controls are not only carried out when foreigners enter Indonesia, but also when they are about to leave Indonesian territory," Novyandri said.

He emphasized that the use of fake travel documents is a serious violation that cannot be tolerated.

Therefore, he continued, the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office continues to improve its document inspection capabilities and strengthen coordination with relevant agencies at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

"Bali is one of Indonesia's main gateways. We want to ensure that everyone who passes through uses valid travel documents. Strict controls are not intended to complicate travel, but rather to maintain public safety and order," he said.
