Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Bandung Metropolitan Sub-regional Police confirmed that a suspicious object initially feared to be a bomb outside the Simalungun Protestant Christian Church (GKPS) in Kosambi, Bandung, was not an explosive but wooden material.
The object was reported on Friday morning (19/12/2025), prompting an immediate security response. Bomb disposal officers from the West Java Regional Police Mobile Brigade and Gegana bomb squad conducted a controlled inspection at the scene.
“It turned out the object only contained wooden sticks and posed no danger,” Bandung Police Chief Senior Superintendent Budi Sartono said, as cited by antaranews.com
Police cordoned off the area with a perimeter line to ensure public safety while the examination was carried out. Although the item was declared harmless, investigators will continue probing the incident.
Authorities will conduct a crime scene examination and question witnesses to identify who placed the object and determine the motive. Police are also assessing whether markings found near the church are connected to the incident.
No injuries were reported, and normal activities have since resumed under police monitoring.
