Inp.polri.go.id - Serang. The Banten Regional Police have arrested seven suspects for organized intimidation and extortion targeting PT Lotte Chemical’s project in Cilegon. 

The incident, which occurred on 29 October 2024, involved forced entry, intimidation of subcontractor workers, and illegal control over industrial waste.

“State authority must not lose to thuggery disguised as activism. We ensure Banten remains safe for investment,” said Banten Police Criminal Investigation Director Senior Superintendent Dian Setyawan during a press conference on Monday (30/6/2025).

The suspects were arrested between 26 May and 27 June 2025. Main perpetrator EH is accused of masterminding the operation. The others — MA, MR, FK, TA, MF, and AJ — played various roles from damaging property to inciting unrest. They face charges under Articles 160, 170, 406, and 335 of the Criminal Code, with penalties up to 9 years.

The police maintained that these actions are essential to uphold legal certainty and protect the region’s investment climate.
