Inp.polri.go.id - Serang. Banten Regional Police partnered with the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Banten on Tuesday (9/12/2025) to reinforce early prevention measures against religiously charged issues and misinformation that could disrupt public stability.
“We urge communities to prevent hoaxes from escalating into social conflicts or placing unnecessary burdens on the provincial government,” Banten Police Chief Inspector General Hengki said during an audience with the MUI Banten.
“Hoax narratives must be anticipated because they create unrest and hinder government programs,” he added, as quoted by antaranews.com
Chief Hengki highlighted the crucial role of religious leaders in calming communities amid disinformation and emerging social tensions. The meeting, attended by Banten MUI Chairman Dr Bazari Syam, also addressed preparedness for extreme weather and potential disasters.
