Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian on Tuesday (9/12/2025) suspended South Aceh Regent Mirwan MS for three months after the regent traveled forminor hajj pilgrimage of umrah without official permission while his region was facing a disaster emergency.
The decision was issued under Articles 76(i) and 77 of Law No. 23/2014 on Regional Government.
“For the next three months he must report back and forth to the ministry for guidance,” Minister Tito, as cited by antaranews.com.
The minister explained that Mirwan left the country without approval from the Home Affairs Ministry after his request was first rejected by Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf. A decree has been issued appointing Deputy Regent Baital Mukadis as Acting Regent during the suspension.
Minister Tito added that President Prabowo Subianto had earlier instructed him to remove Mirwan, but the law mandates temporary suspension for unauthorized overseas travel.
The disaster affected six districts, displacing 5,940 residents and damaging homes, roads, farmland, and public infrastructure.
