inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) and the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen oversight of the Free Nutritional Meals (MBG) Program, particularly in terms of food safety.
The agreement follows up on a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions signed on January 23, 2025, which stated that both parties agreed to use the type two self-management scheme as the basis for implementing activities.
BGN Head Dadan Hindayana explained that the agreement was drafted as a guideline for both institutions in carrying out their respective duties.
"The goal is to raise our commitment and synergy in supporting food safety under the MBG Program, thereby realizing a healthy, intelligent, and high-quality generation towards Indonesia Emas 2045," said the BGN Head on Thursday (5/7/2026).
He emphasized that food safety is a top priority in program implementation, ensuring that every food distributed under the MBG Program has undergone rigorous monitoring and testing processes, ensuring it is safe for public consumption.
According to him, the collaboration with BPOM will strengthen the oversight system from upstream to downstream.
"This collaboration is crucial so that supervision is not merely administrative, but also based on laboratory tests and measurable food safety standards," explained Dadan.
He continued, explaining that the scope of the cooperation document includes the development of food testing analysis methods, the implementation of food supervision and testing, and follow-up on the results.
Furthermore, both parties will optimize the utilization of human resources, facilities and infrastructure, and open up opportunities for other collaborations as agreed in writing.
The technical implementation of the agreement will be further regulated through a type two self-management contract between the commitment-making official from the agency providing the work and the implementation team from the agency receiving the work.
The entire process will adhere to the provisions of laws and regulations regarding the procurement of goods and services through self-management mechanisms.
Through this collaboration, the government hopes that food quality and safety supervision under the MBG Program will be more optimal and provide direct benefits to the wider community.
