Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has launched the Agro-Weather Impact Services (BMKG-AWIS), a digital platform designed to strengthen national food security by providing impact-based weather forecasts.

“BMKG-AWIS transforms our services from merely delivering technical data into risk-based, actionable information for farmers and policymakers,” said BMKG Meteorology Deputy Guswanto  on Monday (6/10/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The system integrates high-resolution weather predictions, spatial risk maps, and early-warning dashboards with the national food logistics network. It enables farmers to anticipate crop failure risks and allows the government to plan food distribution mitigation earlier.

BMKG said the platform bridges the gap between meteorological information and agricultural decision-making amid the growing threat of climate change and extreme weather. The agency urged local governments, agricultural extension officers, and food industry stakeholders to use the system as part of Indonesia’s adaptive climate strategy.
