Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and Malaysia’s Royal Police (PDRM) have agreed to enhance collaboration through joint training and operations targeting drug trafficking during a meeting in Lido, Bogor, West Java, led by BNN Deputy for Law and Cooperation Agus Irianto and PDRM Narcotics Crime Investigation Commissioner Dato’ Seri Khaw Kok Chin on Saturday (30/11/2024).
The joint training will take place at BNN’s Human Resource Development Center, while cross-border operations aim to disrupt smuggling routes.
"This partnership strengthens our efforts to combat drug trafficking and builds law enforcement capacity in both countries," said Agus, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The initiative follows a February 2024 meeting in Kuala Lumpur, where both parties pledged to improve information sharing, enforcement, rehabilitation, and policy coordination.
The Malaysian delegation toured BNN’s facilities, including the Narcotics Laboratory and K9 Unit, where they observed drug detection techniques.
The visit concluded with a briefing on BNN’s training programs, designed to enhance skills for local and international law enforcement personnel.
