Inp.polri.go.id - Karawang. An accident involving a container truck and a Toyota Corolla claimed three lives and left three others severely injured on Jalan Raya Tanggul Rawagabus, Karawang, Sunday night. 

The disaster occurred when a container truck descending a steep slope lost control and tipped over, completely crushing the oncoming sedan.

"We have detained the truck driver for questioning and are investigating a local unauthorized traffic helper who reportedly directed the heavy vehicle onto this restricted route," said  Karawang Sub-regional Police Traffic Chief Assistant Senior Inspector Sudirianto, on Monday (16/2/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.

The evacuation took over two hours as rescue teams worked to extricate victims trapped inside the flattened vehicle. Initial findings suggest the driver lacked vigilance on the steep concrete road, which is not designed for heavy tonnage. While the injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital for intensive care, police are still identifying the deceased.
