Inp.polri.go.id - Probolonggi. The Probolinggo Sub-regional Police have established a special task force to investigate the theft of seven suitcases belonging to a group of Thai tourists at the Mount Bromo tourist site.

The incident occurred on Sunday when the tourists' vehicle was parked at the Sukapura District Pavilion.

"This case is a priority for us as it involves the safety of international tourists in our jurisdiction," said Probolinggo Police Chief Superintendent M. Wahyudin Latif on Tuesday (17/2/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.

Initial reports indicate the theft took place while the driver and the group briefly left the locked vehicle. Upon their return, they found the interior ransacked and seven suitcases containing valuables missing.

Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses in the Sukapura area. The police chief said that the task force aims to solve the case quickly to maintain Mount Bromo's reputation as a safe destination for both domestic and international travelers.
