inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) is focusing on giving attention to the children of the drug abusers.

Chief of BNN, Marthinus Hukom says that this step is also in collaboration with Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI).

“Not only towards the children who misused the drugs, but we are also giving our attention towards the children whose parents abuse the drugs,” says Marthinus on Tuesday (8/27/2024).

On the other hand, children living in the neighborhood prone to drug circulation are also part of BNN concern as the kids do not have much of a choice to choose the best role model.

 Marthinus explains that the current principle of BNN in eradicating drugs is through the children, be it children who misuse the drugs, the child of drug abusers, and children living in drug prone areas.

In a meeting with KPAI, both parties agreed to work together in protecting the children according to the Article 59 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection.

Following the meeting, KPAI affirms that they want to join the effort in preventing and handling the children who got involved with drug abuse. On the other hand, KPAI also wants to ensure that the children in rehabilitation still receive their rights.
