inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) is accelerating the construction of temporary housing and implementing Weather Modification Operations (OMC) as part of its recovery and mitigation efforts for the wet hydrometeorological disasters in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra.
The Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, stated that accelerating the construction of temporary housing is a priority to support affected communities entering the early recovery period.
Of the 17,332 temporary housing units proposed, 5,039 have been completed and are ready for occupancy, with completion targeted before Ramadan 1447 Hijri/mid-February.
"In addition, applications for permanent housing construction have reached 14,286 units, while the Housing Waiting Fund (DTH) assistance scheme continues to be optimized to meet the community's basic needs during the transition period," said Abdul, Tuesday (2/3/2026).
As of early February 2026, BNPB recorded that 18,938 DTH recipient accounts were ready, with aid distributed to 9,360 families.
To reduce the potential for subsequent disasters, BNPB also conducted Weather Modification Operations in affected areas.
The BNPB affirmed its commitment to continuously strengthening cross-sectoral coordination to ensure accelerated recovery, disaster risk reduction, and strengthening community resilience in disaster-prone areas.
