inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto said the evacuation point for victims of the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, will be moved to a safer distance.

"Now there are eight centralized evacuation points, six points in East Flores Regency, two points in Sikka Regency. Well, two evacuation points in Sikka Regency will gradually be moved to East Flores as they are affected by ash," said the Head of BNPB on Tuesday (11/12/2024).

He emphasized the reason for the relocation from Sikka, even though it was already at a safe distance (9 km radius), namely because the ash was heading west and southwest, including having an impact on Sikka Regency.

"Two points have been prepared for relocation from the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas of 50 hectares, located 10 km and 12 km from Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki," explained the Head of BNPB.

Based on the direction of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, refugees are advised to be differentiated between the general public, the elderly, pregnant or breastfeeding mothers, and children.

"So that health services and basic needs are properly provided and we ensure that as of today there have been no complaints related to basic services for food, drink, and clean water," explained the Head of BNPB.

The Acting Regent of East Flores has set an emergency response period for 58 days since Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted on Sunday (11/3/2024).
