Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in Jakarta  has confirmed seven injuries from a fire in the densely populated Manggarai neighborhood, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (13/8/2024).

"Seven injured individuals have been treated by emergency services," said Isnawa Adji, the Head of BPBD Jakarta, as reported by antaranews.com.

The fire, which broke out around 2:33 am in Dr. Saharjo Street, affected residential homes in two community units in Manggarai, Tebet. Firefighters extinguished the blaze by 9.30 am after deploying hundreds of personnel and fire trucks.

The blaze forced the evacuation of 3,019 residents from 1,050 families to safer locations, including Infinia Warehouse on Jalan Minangkabau, Al Falah Mosque, and Elementary School 05 Manggarai .

Twenty-one neighborhood units, locally known as Rukun Tetangga (RT) across two community units, or Rukun Warga (RW), were affected. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but initial reports suggested it may be due to an electrical short circuit.
