Inp.polri.go.id - Lombok. The Mataram Sub-regional Police said traces of Escherichia Coli (E. Coli) bacteria were found in meals suspected of causing food poisoning among elementary students in West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
“The BPOM lab results have been received. E. Coli bacteria were detected in several food samples,” said Second Inspector Imamul Ahyar, the Head of the special crimes unit at Mataram Police, on Tuesday (30/9/2025), referring to the the Food and Drug Authority.
He added, however, that investigators have not yet concluded the bacteria as the direct cause.
“This is under investigation. We need expert testimony to strengthen the evidence before drawing conclusions,” Chief Imamul said, as reported by antaranews.com
The probe followed a 17 September 2025 report after six students from SDN 1 Nyiurlembang and SDN 1 Selat elementary schools showed symptoms of poisoning on 3 September 32025.
All suffered nausea and stomach pain and were treated at a local health center. Police are now seeking statements from nutrition experts, health officials, and the food provider before moving the case to the next stage.
