Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Twenty-two people were confirmed dead on Tuesday (9/12/2025) after a fire swept through the Terra Drone shop-house in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, prompting a full police investigation into how the blaze started and why victims were trapped on the upper floors.
“As of 5 pm, we have recorded 22 fatalities, all of whom have been taken to the Bhayangkara Hospital for identification,” Central Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police Chief Senior Superintendent Susatyo Purnomo Condro said, as cited by antaranews.com
Police are examining witness accounts, business permits, and the building structure while awaiting the Forensic Laboratory Team’s assessment of the scene.
The fire is believed to have ignited around 12:30 pm on the first floor from a burning toy-drone battery inside a storage area. Employees resting on the second to sixth floors were unable to escape as thick smoke rose rapidly. Investigators are coordinating with firefighters to determine the exact chain of events and evaluate potential liabilities.
