inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri opened the Social Communication Training held at the Mutiara Auditorium of the Indonesian National Police Education and Training Institute (Lemdiklat Polri) on Thursday (1/29/2026).

This activity was held to strengthen the capacity of police personnel in building communication, partnerships, and community service.

A total of 1,211 personnel participated in the training. Participants included police personnel to the high ranking police officials.

Asep Edi Suheri emphasized that community development is the primary foundation for maintaining stability, security, and public order. Chief Asep emphasized the importance of  proper police service, not only being swift and decisive, but also prioritizing a soft approach and communication that avoids hurting the public's feelings.

"Public trust is the main capital of us. Without their trust, even the right actions can be misunderstood. Therefore, every step must be conveyed appropriately, politely, and without hurting the public's feelings," he said.

He also emphasized the importance of the development function, particularly the Community Development Unit (Binmas) and Security Police Officers (Bhabinkamtibmas), as the spearheads of community policing and problem-solving at the regional level.

Given the limited number of personnel, he said, the quality of attendance and communication are considered key factors in the effectiveness of police services.

Through this training, officers are expected to have a stronger understanding of public communication strategies, persuasive approaches, and managing social dynamics in the community, so that potential disturbances to public order and security can be prevented early on without triggering public resistance.

He also encouraged all participants to view community development as a long-term investment in trust through cross-functional synergy and alignment of messages and institutional attitudes in maintaining security, order, and the dignity of INP in the eyes of the public.
