Inp.polri.go.id - CIlegon. The Cilegon City Sub-regional Police have commenced the enforcement of operational restrictions for heavy goods vehicles to ensure smooth traffic flow at the strategic Merak and Ciwandan ports.
Based on a joint decree, the restriction primarily targets non-essential trucks with three or more axles operating along the Tangerang-Merak toll road and arterial routes.
"We are currently disseminating information to transport operators regarding the operational ban to prevent congestion at crucial transit points," said Cilegon Police Chief of Traffic Assistant Senior Inspector Ridwan on Sunday (22/2/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.
To maintain essential logistics, the police have exempted vehicles carrying basic food supplies) and disaster relief aid. Authorities have also established specific contingency plans, including redirecting traffic to the Bakauheni Bandar Jaya (BBJ) and DBS ports if queues at Ciwandan exceed capacity.
The Cilegon Police also prepared "buffer zones" and expanded parking areas at PT Indah Kiat areas to accommodate the anticipated surge in travelers, ensuring that both commercial logistics and passenger movements remain orderly and safe.
