Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police will punish everyone who spreads fake information or hoaxes that are deemed to disturb the government's effort in handling Covid-19. Do not let the public become confused by the untrue information spreading through the public.
The statement was issued by the Chief of Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police, Police Commissioner General Agus Andrianto, to the personnel in the virtual meeting at the Indonesian Police Headquarter, Jakarta, on Tuesday (20/07/21).
"If there are person-to-person violations, we will subject the person to restorative justice and Chief of Police's circulation letter because it is related to disturbing government in handling Covid. This action requires firm punishment", Police Commissioner General Agus Andrianto said.
Chief of Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police regrets that some people still believe in the Covid-19 hoax said by dr. Lois Owien on several social media platforms.
"Many people have died from Covid-19. So why do they still believe in a hoax?" the Class 1989 graduate of Armed Forces Academy said.
The former Chief of North Sumatra Regional Police encourages all people to be vaccinated because the government has prepared free Covid-19 vaccines.
The three-star general also said that the more people got vaccinated, the closer herd immunity would be achieved.
Until now, only 7.5% of Indonesian people have received a second jab, when 19% have received the first dose. It is still low, considering the government targets 75% of Indonesian people to be vaccinated.
