Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, is exploring investment collaboration with South Korea in the media and entertainment sector.
“The Korean media industry has made its language and culture global despite its relatively small population. That’s something we want to study and invest in,” said Pandu Sjahrir, the Chief Investment Officer of Danantara Indonesia, during the Korea-Indonesia Economic Partnership Forum in Jakarta on Tuesday (24/6/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
He highlighted how Korea’s global influence through music and film could inspire similar strategies to elevate Indonesian culture worldwide. He expressed interest in adopting Korea’s model to expand Indonesia’s cultural presence internationally.
South Korea’s Deputy Chief of Mission, Park Soo-Deok, welcomed the interest, noting the strong Indonesian fanbase for Korean dramas and pop culture.
“This is a promising area of cooperation, given Indonesia’s large and enthusiastic media-consuming population,” he said.
The forum aimed to strengthen bilateral economic ties, with media, entertainment, and technology emerging as key areas for future investment and cultural exchange.
