Inp.polri.go.id - Bandarlampung.  Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency Nusron Wahid said it takes 587 days to legally designate land as abandoned under Government Regulation No. 20/2021.

“The process from evaluation to the final designation takes 587 days,” he said during a press briefing on Tuesday (29/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com..

Minister Nusron explained that if land granted under land-use rights such as HGU or HGB remains idle for two years, it may be classified as abandoned property. The stages include evaluation, official notices, and written warnings (SP1, SP2, SP3) issued over time, up to 180 days, 9 months, 60 days, and 45 days, respectively.

“The government follows every procedure with caution; we don't make such declarations arbitrarily,” he asserted.

Once designated as abandoned, the land is handed over to the Land Bank for national strategic uses such as food security and energy.
