Inp.polri.go.id - Pidie.  Minister of Defense General (ret.) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin reminded the Indonesian Military (TNI) personnel to maintain close and harmonious relations with civilians during a visit to the Territorial Infantry Development Battalion (Yonif TP) 857/Gana Gajahsora in Pidie, Aceh, on Sunday (16/11/2025).

“Without the people, we are nothing. Maintain closeness with them, because they are our main strength,” he said in an official statement, as reported by antaranews.com.

The visit was part of a wider Ministry of Defense tour assessing the operational readiness of territorial units and strengthening troop development in regional posts. Minister Sjafrie reviewed several support facilities, including the public kitchen and barracks.

He said that the TNI was born from the people and must remain humble, respectful, and helpful in carrying out territorial duties. He also underscored disciplined conduct, urging soldiers to uphold the Sapta Marga values and protect the honor of their units.

He Sjafrie further called for stronger TNI–the Indonesian National Police (INP) synergy to maintain national security, warning troops against internal violence or inter-unit clashes.
