inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, stated that the UK's investment commitment in Indonesia will focus on the maritime sector. This IDR 90 trillion investment commitment was secured during President Prabowo Subianto's visit to the UK.
The Head of State met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. The meeting marked a significant milestone in strengthening Indonesia-UK cooperation, particularly in the national maritime sector.
Minister Hadi stated that the investment commitment will be realized in the construction of fishing vessels. According to the Minister, the estimated IDR 90 trillion investment will be sufficient for 1,500 fishing vessels.
"One of them is cooperation in the maritime sector, namely the construction of fishing vessels, totaling approximately 1,500 vessels. This is a truly strategic collaboration," he said at the Presidential Palace Complex, as reported by RRI on Thursday (1/22/2026).
Hadi stated that this collaboration is crucial, given that Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country. This collaboration can also optimize Indonesia's abundant marine resources.
"As we have previously stated, three-quarters of our country's territory is ocean. So we want to truly enhance our marine potential," he said.
Although it will only be realized in the near future, he hopes it will have a positive impact on the national maritime sector.
The Minister of State Secretary believes that optimizing the maritime sector will also increase the protein intake for the children in Indonesia.
