Member of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Bane Raja Manalu invited business actors in the creative economy and tourism sectors to collaborate to explore the potential of Pematangsiantar as a creative city tourist destination and host of national events.
"It is important for us to be aware that we must explore the potential of Pematangsiantar to attract more tourists," said Bane in a statement received in Jakarta, Saturday.
He conveyed this when holding a technical guidance with the Ministry of Tourism with the theme "Exploring the Potential of Coffee as an Attraction in Organizing National Events" in North Sumatra, Friday (5/23/2025).
He said that Pematangsiantar City has a strong character to become a tourism destination, starting from art, culture and culinary, city tourism, and other creativity that must be promoted as attractions.
"This is my longing and goal for Siantar City to be more known for its creativity. We must create many quality events," he said.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Deputy for National Events at the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Komang Ayu Astuti, emphasized the importance of collaboration to advance tourism potential and make the region capable of organizing national events.
"Collaboration is very important, we will examine whether an event in a region is worthy of becoming a national event, whether it is able to attract tourists, its economic movement, its MSME movement," said Komang who was present as a resource person.
