inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN) stated that drug distribution patterns in Indonesia are evolving rapidly and are becoming increasingly difficult to detect.
The Head of the BNN, Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto, stated that narcotics are no longer limited to heroin or ecstasy, but have also expanded into liquid and synthetic forms, even disguised as e-cigarettes.
"Narcotics in Indonesia have changed very rapidly, including in liquid form and disguised as e-cigarettes," he said on Wednesday (4/15/2026).
According to Suyudi, this situation requires strengthening regulations, which the BNN cannot implement alone, but rather through synergy with relevant ministries and institutions.
To this end, BNN strengthened its strategic partnership with the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) through an audience with the leaders of both institutions in Jakarta on April 10, 2026.
Suyudi expressed his appreciation for the existing cooperation and assessed the need for further collaboration.
In response, the Head of BPOM, Taruna Ikrar, expressed his readiness to strengthen collaboration based on scientific data. He emphasized that every policy taken will be based on comprehensive scientific studies.
The two institutions also agreed to update the memorandum of understanding to strengthen the legal basis for cooperation and expand collaboration.
