inp.polri.go.id - Central Jakarta. The Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police raided a methamphetamine transaction in Jati Bunder, Kebon Melati, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. The raid resulted in the arrest of five men along with several pieces of evidence.
Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Reynold E.P. Hutagalung, stated that this raid was a swift response to information widely circulated on Instagram and TikTok by the public.
"We followed up on information that went viral on social media regarding alleged narcotics transactions in the area. The team immediately launched an investigation and ultimately succeeded in taking action," explained Reynold on Monday (4/27/2026).
The raid was conducted on Sunday (4/26/2026) at approximately 10:00 PM on Jati Bunder Dalam, Kebon Melati Village, Tanah Abang. Investigators had previously conducted intensive observation and monitoring at the location suspected of being a hub for drug transactions and abuse.
Investigators arrested BS, AS, RS, BHP, and HB at the location. Additionally, the search resulted in the seizure of 11 packages of methamphetamine weighing 18.57 grams, 14 smoking devices, 12 pipes, dozens of modified lighters, and several bottles used for methamphetamine consumption.
"The evidence we secured strongly indicates that the location was used for drug abuse and distribution," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of the Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Unit, Superintendent Wisnu Setiyawan Kuncoro, added that his team was still investigating the case to uncover a broader network. The perpetrators are currently being held at the Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police HQ for further questioning.
"We are still investigating the possibility of other networks, including suppliers of the illicit goods," he explained.
He added that investigators had also conducted urine tests on the perpetrators and sent evidence to a laboratory for further testing. If proven guilty, the perpetrators will be charged under Article 127 paragraph (1) letter a of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics. He urged the public not to hesitate to report suspicious drug-related activity in their neighborhoods by calling the 110 call center for immediate action.
