The East Kalimantan Regional Police is set to deploy 1,905 personnel to bolster security across 1,061 locations, including 911 churches, 31 malls, 84 tourist attractions, 15 ports, 8 airports, and 12 bus terminals, throughout Operation Lilin Mahakam 2023, scheduled from December 22, 2023, to January 2, 2024. Inspector General Nanang Avianto, Chief of East Kalimantan Regional Police, remarked on Monday (18/12/23), "These locations are central to Christmas and New Year celebrations, serving as gathering places and festive hubs." Additionally, he announced the establishment of 72 posts, comprising 39 security posts, 21 service posts, and 12 integrated posts, with the primary objective of ensuring a secure and organized environment for the community. "We assure the public that the police and other forces will provide a sense of security, addressing various potential threats during the Christmas and New Year celebrations in 2024," he said. In addition to underscoring the need for security measures, he highlighted the importance of maintaining personnel's physical stamina, mental well-being, and ensuring adequate facilities and infrastructure at all posts.
