East Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Calls for Drug Eradication

Inp.polri.go.id – East Kalimantan. The drug flow in East Kalimantan has caught the attention of Inspector General Nanang Avianto as the drug crimes rocketed in the province. According to the reports, throughout 2023, East Kalimantan Regional Police has discovered 1,710 drug cases, which increased 13% from last year in 2022 with 1,480 cases. “If we stand idly, this will soon destroy our future generations,” said the East Kalimantan Regional Police Chief on Monday (4/1/2024). As of March 2024, East Kalimantan Regional Police has disclosed 407 drug cases with 506 suspects arrested. From the drug case disclosures, police also confiscated a total of 37.29 kilogram of meth, 53 grams of weed, and thousands of drug pills. One of the highlighted cases is the uncovering of Malaysian drug smuggling, which was discovered and disclosed by East Kalimantan Regional Police Drug Criminal Investigation last March. In that case, police has confiscated 32 kilograms of meth from three suspects, with two of them being Malaysian nationals. Thus, the police chief has instructed his personnel to commit to eradicating drug flows in East Kalimantan. On the other hand, he also asked the people of East Kalimantan to proactively support the police in their struggle eradicating drug flows. “If you know any information relating to drug smuggling, please immediately report to us,” convey the police chief.
