Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti has officially introduced the New Student Admission System (SPMB), set to take effect in the 2025/2026 academic year.
The policy, endorsed by the Red and White Cabinet, is built on four pillars: quality education for all, social inclusion, social integration, and social cohesion, he said on Monday (3/3/2025).
SPMB ensures equal access to public schools while supporting private institutions that contribute to Indonesia’s education system.
"Every child has the right to quality education," Minister Mu'ti said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
He emphasized that SPMB is more than an admission system—it includes student evaluation, regional flexibility, private school involvement, and technology integration.
Regionall administrations are expected to play a key role in the implementation, overseeing 51 million students, 3.4 million teachers, and 440,000 schools.
SPMB mandates fixed quotas for public school admissions, locks the education database one month prior to announcements, and aligns government funding programs with verified student data.
