Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has issued Circular Letter No. 1/2026 to guide local administrations and schools in maintaining learning services after disasters, the ministry announced on Monday (5/1/2026).
The policy applies nationwide and aims to protect students’ right to safe, meaningful, and continuous education while prioritizing safety.
“Education must not stop because of disasters, but the safety of students, teachers, and education personnel must always come first,” Minister Abdul Mu’ti said, as cited by antaranews.com
The circular allows schools affected by disasters to adjust learning methods, schedules, and facilities based on local conditions. Schools may implement limited face-to-face classes, distance learning, or other suitable formats, depending on readiness and available support from parents and local authorities.
The ministry also emphasized the importance of psychosocial support and child-friendly learning environments to aid recovery. Regional administrations are urged to coordinate with disaster management agencies to ensure effective implementation.
The circular took effect immediately upon issuance.
