Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia has raised serious concern over the United States’ military strikes on Venezuela, warning that the action could set a dangerous precedent in international relations and undermine global stability.
“Indonesia expresses deep concern over any use or threat of force that risks creating a dangerous precedent in international relations,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Monday (5/1/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com
The government stressed that such actions may weaken sovereignty, diplomacy, and regional peace, while calling on the international community to respect the rights of the Venezuelan people to determine their own future. Indonesia urged all parties to prioritize dialogue, exercise restraint, comply with international law, and ensure the protection of civilians.
The response followed confirmed US strikes on civilian and military facilities in Venezuela on Saturday, which led to the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro. Venezuela has since declared a national emergency and requested an emergency UN Security Council meeting.
